![]() ![]() ![]() Adolescents and young people are thought to benefit especially from LARCs, and a growing number of U.S. LARCs are a critically important piece of the contraceptive method mix, providing a highly reliable, safe, and reversible option for long-term prevention. Long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) are the most effective, non-permanent methods for pregnancy prevention currently available. This article discusses successes to LARC programs, using the Colorado Family Planning initiative as a case study, while also providing recommendations to ensure that programs are balanced with patient-centered care and a respect for reproductive autonomy. However, LARC promotion must be viewed in the context of reproductive coercion and oppression of low-income and minority communities in the States.
